About Us

OUR RESTAURANT

As a child, watching my mother and father cook was such a huge event. My father would walk in from work, turn on music, his favorite Italian music or song. Then the kitchen cabinet would come open, two wine glasses would come out, and he would pour two chilled glasses of wine. One for him and one for my mother. My mother would be on the other side of kitchen, softly singing to the words of the song playing and slowly moving her body to its rhythm while she sliced carrots and celery or any other vegetable depending on the recipe she was working with.

My father would come from behind while she was cutting on the cutting board or cooking and slide the glass of wine beside her and give her a huge kiss and hug. Then he would bellow out the chorus of whatever song was playing and dance his way around the kitchen picking at any food he could find that whats ready to taste test.

OUR KITCHEN

It is one of the happiest memories I have. Because that kitchen was one of the happiest rooms in the house. It's where love happened and showed up no matter what kind of day you had. Creativity, passion, love and effort were all present as long as you were in that room.

The taste of the food was living proof love and happy existed in our family because our mother added those two ingredients to every single recipe she put together. Being able to bring happiness around our dinner table by showing up, by watching my mother and father put love and fun in our kitchen, made me love being in the kitchen.

I want to share that very emotion with each and every one of my friends, my neighbors all of which may or may not also be my customers. I love bringing happiness to peoples lives. Because while my parents shared beautiful moments in the kitchen, they were hard working people, who made hard working good choices, and now that I am an adult I realize that those beautiful moments were the outcomes of hard sacrifices and uncomfortable long days. I understood that those moments were needed because they were the cool down periods of a immigrant family making a life for their children and their families. I understood that those memories were the rewards of those sacrifices. The food was a blessing but the picture of happiness and music and love within the food was the actual reward.

Jumangi wants to bring that same joy to your table.

This is our way of embracing that memory and not only thanking our parents for that guiding lite and thanking them for that single emotion of love and drive but also to share that same emotion with our friends and neighbors.

We want to share our dinner table with all of you. Bring joy and colorful memories to your family, friends and loved ones.

My grandmother used to say that if you can sit at a table and share a meal with any one stranger, good or bad... then that was the act of breaking bread together. That was the act of finding common ground under the cloak of flavor and good food.... and food would solve any conflict; good food would bring the goodness out of any person's inner heart. Good food brings people around the table and helps ease the pain of harder days.

Every day we cook with passion, & with love. All so we can bring happiness to your day and to your experience at Jumangi.

We love cooking and baking as nurturers of our creative craft. After all, cooking, baking it's not just a job it's a passion. The art of creating beauty and love thru food is the core of what we stand for....

Thank you for creating memories at Jumangi & sharing your meals with us at Jumangi, and we hope to share them with you for years to come.
